The deck building and strategy parts are really meaty and fun though, at least for me. You don't need an insane amount (I haven't played an RTS in years and was fine) but it's there and that may be a turn-off. Those two things combine to create an APM barrier that a turn-based game just doesn't have. That adds in a fair amount of micromanagement, especially if you are playing a strategy that involves utilizing active building effects (that you actually have to click to trigger and use) or spell cards. The other big difference is of course that it's also a Kingdom-style defense game (enemies come in waves from both sides of a 2d plane and you need to defend both sides of your city with units, structures, and spells). You can pause and move the camera around, but you can't take any actions while paused. A core part of the game is efficiently managing and redrawing your hands while stuff happens.
